Guys I am sooo tired...
these two days of intense training have been very tiresome, but very productive and amazing!
I truly enjoyed every moment there. There was so much information to cram, but the girl who delivered the training did a fantabulous job!
She was very energetic and she made it fun and easy to understand. I felt like I was back in school though, because we even had homework assignments to do. I still have to finish a test by next Wednesday in order to complete training requirements and then I'll be able to receive my certificate!
After that I will need to do ABA observations with any two Lead Teachers in any type of setting (home, school or community). After that then I'll be able to take on ABA cases (working with autistic children ages birth to 3). As I said before, Julie, who will be my clinical supervisor, is on vacation (she left on Wednesday), and she'll be gone for two weeks, meaning that I'll have to wait for her to get back in order for me to schedule my observation hours. TheraCare is performing these intense/rigid trainings now because the state has gotten so demanding and is requiring so much from therapists and teachers... it's crazy
. But I am happy. To tell you the truth, I am learning a whole lot about these common disorders that I didn't really get to spend much time learning about in college... so this is actually great!
I think I've learned more about autism these past two days than I ever did in all my 4 years at Andrews. Ironic? Not really, it's just that in school you're focusing more on textbooks than the actual hands-on experience, so this has worked out quite well for me
. I also have a clinical training coming up in June, so I don't exactly know when I'll be starting my own caseload, but whenever it is, I am fine with it. I rather get all the appropriate training and prep that I need to get before I step out into the field, that way I'll be more confident when performing my job.

I am so mentally drained right now... I am exhausted!
So I will go take a nap now
. But it's been awesome telling you guys all about my experiences. Have a blessed Sabbath everyone and enjoy your weekend!
